This was an experiment that has worked beautifully. I wanted to see if I could create a sweater from my vintage cardigan pattern and was curious to see how it would look in a different yarn.

The original design used Rowan Felted Tweed Aran and resulted in a lovely vintage look. Using Kidsilk Haze and not altering the pattern at all I have ended up with a lovely light and fluffy sweater that is really quite glamourous and has a real 80's vibe to it.

It used 6 balls of yarn in total so it won't break the bank.

Hello Suzy, do you have the pattern for this sweater? I really like it and would like to try it.

        Hello yes!

The pattern for the sweater is included in the Vintage Boatneck Cardigan pattern. I achieved the sweater by simply knitting two backs insteadt of the back and the left and right fronts of the cardigan. :)

@Suzy Rai:thanks so much. Would Rowan Kidsilk Haze be ok for this pattern? It came up when I searched for patterns with that yarn, a few balls of which I already have -because I think I’’ll have to abandon a sweater I started with it. I’ve found it difficult to knit in it and I think it’ll be easier with larger needles which I think yours requires?

@Anonymous Alpaca: Yes I used Kidsilk Haze for this version and you work the yarn double, making it so much easier to work with. I have subsequently doubled Kidsilk Haze up with Rowan fine lace and that works a treat too!

        Happy Knitting!

Adore the boat neck style, high at the front but wide and very elegant, and the width of neck line is really emphasised here. Like the idea of making it in a fine light yarn, as it's quite unexpected and airy. Lovely work!
